Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Human Resources will have the responsibility for the overall management and direction of the City’s human resource function in accordance with the policy direction of Council, legislative requirements and collective agreements. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of human resource and labour relations strategies, programs and services to all City departments including business areas such as recruitment, employee retention and recognition, compensation, benefits administration, job evaluation, training and development, organizational/workplace wellness and occupational health and safety. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide consultative advice on employee and labour relations issues, grievance investigation and arbitration matters and will play a key role in coordinating the preparation of contract proposals for collective bargaining, participate as a member of the contract negotiation teams and interpreting the C.U.P.E. and the I.A.F.F. collective agreements. Finally, the successful candidate will have effective and proven interpersonal, communication, facilitation, customer service, conflict resolution, coaching, negations, project management, strong computer skills and will be a team player.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and considerable experience in a senior human resources role, preferably in the public sector and should reflect a career path of increased responsibility for more complex roles and responsibilities including supervisory responsibility is desired. A CHRP designation would be an asset. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required.
