Toronto, ONPermanent$36.51 - $39.99 an hourThe City of Toronto's Fleet Services Division (FSD) provides a full range of fleet management services for City Divisions and Agencies. We direct the management of the City’s fleet including the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of assets; along with the City’s industry leading Green Fleet Plan and fuel management infrastructure. The City of Toronto has the largest municipal fleet in Canada and one of the most complex Fleets in North America.
Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Budget & Accounting, the Accounting Assistant 2 assists with performing a variety of accounting duties. Performs accounting duties such as reviewing, researching, analyzing and reconciling ledger accounts, bank accounts, setting up and maintaining expenditures and revenue working papers, spreadsheets and reconciliation to general ledger Performs and maintains accounts receivable functions, bank deposits and reconciliation Performs calculations in order to process period end accruals for expenditures Prepares working papers and processes period end and year-end closing entries Reviews financial system reports and takes action as required Analyzes and reconciles account balances. Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries Reviews General Ledger expenditure and revenue accounts, processes reallocation adjustments, and reconciles expenditures Prepares monthly financial reports and other financial information for the division or client divisions Liaises with Accounting Services Division for processing vouchers, retrieving documents and dealing with other accounting related issues Reviews, analyzes and reconciles commitments, budget variance reports and cost detail records related to divisional capital and/or current projects Assists to maintain PCard transaction logs, reconcile monthly statements to the transaction logs with respect to HST and as required, prepares journal entries to reallocate PCard charges as appropriate and required Provides assistance on accounting and financial related matters to the divisions as requested Monitors Provincial statutes and regulations, City by-laws and/or Council direction, and agreements for any changes Co-ordinates data with the internal and external Auditors Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to: Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job functions such as accounting or finance or business administration or the equivalent combination of education and practical experience in the accounting field. Considerable experience utilizing a variety of software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications (i.e. MS Excel) and computer based accounting and payroll applications/systems (ex. SAP). Considerable experience in the analysis and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statement preparation. Considerable experience in analysis, investigation and processing of transactions relating to accounts receivable and/or accounts payable. You must also have: Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Access. Advanced knowledge of current accounting procedures and techniques pertaining to the function, with a strong working knowledge of ERP financial system. Ability to prepare detailed correspondence, memoranda, summaries, financial statements, and documentation requiring the interpretation and application of a wide range of administrative accounting practices.
