Key Accountabilities:
Monitors commercial and agricultural delinquency performance and provides timely reporting to management on the status and performance of assigned portfolio. E.g. Watchlist
Manages and mitigates credit risk within an assigned portfolio through the completion of annual reviews and presents or approves restructuring recommendations within assigned limits and authorities through investigation, analysis and underwriting, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and internal lending guidelines.
Actively works with borrowers to rehabilitate delinquent, deteriorating, and distressed loans situations and where that is not possible, will undertake, in consultation and collaboration with legal counsel and insolvency professionals, collections initiatives to repay outstanding loans.
Proactively interacts with commercial and agricultural lending staff providing coaching, in relation to problem loan identification and resolution and acts as a resource for loan restructuring.
When required, liaises with regulators, internal and external auditors in regards to overall performance of loan portfolio including delinquency, watch list accounts, provisions, write-offs and recoveries.
Develops and manages relationships with external collection resources in order to manage loan portfolio risk. (E.g. solicitors, receivers, appraisers, auction house and bailiffs.)
Reviews a suitable sampling of loans applications to determine adequacy of underwriting and to ensure potential credit weaknesses are recognized and resolved.
Manages credit applications for commercial and agricultural loans. Conducts loan transaction reviews; mitigates risk through adjudication of credit and adherence to policies and procedures, and approves loans pursuant to the credit risk oversight policy and within assigned lending limits.
Contributes and collaborates in the development and enhancement of credit/collections practice, policies and procedure, thresholds, and decision making protocol related to the approval of credit and the effectiveness of collection practices across regions.
Represents the organization within the community and amongst select networking groups.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements:
8 years experience in commercial banking, with preference given to a credit role.
4 - 5 years experience in collections with exposure to retail and commercial accounts an asset.
Completed a relevant certificate, diploma, degree or designation program.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation relating to credit and collections environment. Specifically relevant sections of the Credit Union Ac
